Poetry

Besides work, which takes up most of my time, I've been busy with another project. We call it Poetry. Loven, Faith and I have done some retail projects before for Hafa Adai (Ilonggos, remember that place) and Wicked, Faith's very first boutique. Coming here in Siem Reap we had the chance to try it out with the One Shop, which I've blogged about countless of times. It has been great with One Shop despite the recession and, really, for me, a nice diversion outside of work.

So when a chance for us to find a space in the Alley West, the emerging hippest area of SR, we grabbed the opportunity to have a bigger playground for our art, designs and concepts. It's not finished yet. There's so much more to fix like the area at the back and the 2nd floor. The image above is the first that Loven has taken of the main area. You can see a sampling of my clothes, some stuff from Loven and his artworks. We called it Poetry because we believe there's something poetic in everything that we do.

Tell you more about Poetry, soon.

'I love summer' stuff at Dover Street Market

I love the idea behind the latest offerings at Dover Street Market. Artisanal ethnic or traditional crafts is very interesting for me. I would love to have that black Moroccan bag and I'm sure the one from Thailand is quirky fun. Just the other day I saw somebody carry this huge woven bag made of plastic ribbons. Definitely, brought from here. I'm sure traditionally they used some raffia or water lily to make it. Doing it in a totally modern material while retaining the traditional shape is ingenious. I have to buy one.

Message from LTE

A little message from my friends Lyka Bergen, Ekra Tan & Mama O of Las Tres Estrellas.

Angkor trip of Ace, Rey and Mike

A trip to Cambodia wouldn't be complete without checking out the world's biggest temple complex, nes't-ce pas? And that's what my friends Ace, Rey and Mike did for two days that they were here in Siem Reap. Definitely, they were blown away by the sheer and raw beauty of Angkor Wat. Our first order of the day was to explore the Angkor Thom complex built by the egocentric king, Jayavarman the VII.

Angkor Thom is basically a walled city during its time. Much like Intramuros, no? But, palanggas, not that I look down on our own race but there's nothing on us like the way the Khmers did it here. One of the entrances had a series of carved Apsaras (like a celestial being similar to angels) on one side and demons on the other, greeting you like massive stone soldiers. Ace and Mike had a field day taking photographs while Rey still posed like there's no tomorrow. Why take pictures when you have two photographers to take your pictures, di bala?

The chicness factor was just unstoppable. Elephants roam the ground like what I imagine during olden times when it was the transportation du jour. We got the chance to ride an elephant going up to Bakheng temple later that day. You have to try it, palanggas!

Our tour guide seems keen on making us lose weight because he decided to let us climb that effin wall because he said it will look good on the pictures.

Never mind my un-chic look (izzue tee, DP pants, Converse and AA gym bag). I don't own a YSL safari suit yet but I imagine it would be perfect here. But I look so effortless there but I'm telling you it's scary being on top of some ancient crumbling wall. I don't think it's fierce being squashed by that huge face, no?

Here's the three on their last night here. Apres spa, we had dinner at the fab, fab, fab Meric. They decided to wear coordinated black outfits because they like to think they're in a boyband, este, slimming daw. Etchos!

I'm so glad their trip here was fun. I mean Rey bought some major artworks (didn't I tell you he's loaded?chos!) and I think he plans to acquire some more (Love you BFF! Bwahahaha!). Mike had some nirvanic encounter on top of Bakheng temple while the sun sets on the horizon (You almost forgot we were there with you, di bala? But I understand my mega friend) and Ace had the pleasure of meeting me (Hahahaha! Despite the serene nature of your trip here it was a much needed respite before the rockin' and rollin' encounters you had in Iloilo! hihihi). I was just talking to my friend for all seasons yesterday and he's got some post vacation blues. I honestly, truly understand, palanggas. I always get sad when my vacation ends.

Anyhoot, that's all the pictures I've got of their trip here. The rest I still haven't got because they promised me they will give a cd copy. But I try not to expect anything. Di bala Mike, Ace and Rey? Hehehehe Tsika lang!

I'l update you soon about our other misadventures once I get the picture files from them. You wouldn't wanna miss our Lifestyle Asia and jumping shots.

Ace, Mike and Rey

My workasonic friends (left to right) Ace, Rey and Mike, proud members of the Longanisa Traveling Extravaganza, finally arrived here in cosmo - Siem Reap for a much needed rest & recreation, among other things, palangga. It was veritable red carpet treatment the moment they went out of their plane from polluted Bangkok. I wonder how can Ms. Kawadjan live there on such conditions? Oh, wait, sanay pala sya sa squatters. Chos! Anyhoot, I'm sure the aroma of jasmine and lemon grass that I specifically asked my driver to scent the car rejuvenated them in no time. We were then whisked to the tres, tres chic Hotel de la Paix while enjoying a bottle of water drawn by a virgin lass from a stream on the French alps and some cold towels.

Upon arrival, the three stooges, este, my three friends wasted no time in checking their cameras.

Alam mo naman, part of traveling are the photos you took. How else can you brag about it and make your friends go green with envy back home?

Oh, instead of checking his camera Rey decided to pose...

and pose.

Until dinner at Viroth's, he still posed. Now that's a dedicated poser. Chos! I told Rey he's my new BFF coz he's got lots of money, este, lots of stories to tell.

Faith, wearing a Vivienne Westwood tee and Subversive by Justin Guinta neckpiece, with muy simpatico, Ace, my 'friend for all seasons'. I can't wait to share with all of you the gifts he gave me. In another blog entry, promise. Galante ang lolo! Don't you just love his Koh Samui tan?

Never mind my constipated look. I swear it was so hot that night even though I'm wearing my cotton slashed back Romeo Gigli shirt with Tina Daniac wood chain. Practically my whole back was exposed! Anyway, palanggas, on my side is my 'mega' friend Mike, who looks Botoxed here. Uy, aminin! Hahahaha! That's the El Nido look. I'm so happy they took the time to visit me here in SR coming from different places.

Loven was there, too, to join in the conversations and updating about their lives. Apres, we had drinks at Eliz's birthday party on the rooftop bar of Soria Moria. Of course, I introduced them to SR's who's who and who's not. Bwahahaha! What a way to spend their first day here in Angkor, nes't-ce pas?

Delish dish at Samhot

Stocking over shoes

Was it Ann Sofie Back or Martin Margiela who styled it this way? I can't remember. But I tried it using my Jil Sander sneakers.

It doesnt look weird though and actually felt quite normal if you factor in that usually my shoes looks like that after being covered with dust from walking outside. hehehe

See you soon Lola

My grandmother just slept and she never woke up. So very her. Very conservative, keeps to herself, simple and doesn't want to make a fuss. I'm a lola's boy. I'm the first grandson on her side and I think she never doted any of her grandchildren the way she did on me. I remember asking her to buy for me a P5000 sneakers at a time when you can buy a decent branded one. But I used that sneaker until it was dust. I was really close with my lola. She's really my fan. She's so proud of everything I do even though she couldn't understand half of it. Lola loves it when you need her. She loves to cook and makes the meanest fruit salad. When I was staying with her I remember she would prepare the mosquito net for me. When I studied in that school in the mountains she traveled 6 hours to visit me. She brought me food and stuff. I attended a boyscout jamboree once and she gave me lots of pocket money because she was worried I might not eat. She's really the perfect lola for me. I even named my vintage designer resale business for her, Casilda's Closet. I could go on and on about her. I'm sad my lola is moving on to the next life and going in another journey. But then again I'm happy because I know she's ready to move on. If my time comes I can't wait to see her again.

DP stuff: Printed Raw Silk dresses

Not my usual style but it's fun to experiment with stuff I haven't done before.
