Is it Christmas?

I love gifts, I really do. Especially, the unexpected ones. During the opening of 'Narratives' I got two gifts I really didn't expect.

Kathy from the US, arrived from Bangkok to hand deliver, straight from the airport, a box of Royce'. Eyelaaabseeet!

Hmmmmmm...yummy! I swear muntik ko na syang maubos in one sitting.

Not only that, Elody, who worked at Hermes Champs Elysees, gave me this Eau d'Orange Verte cologne. It's my day scent now. I feel so chic everytime I spray it on. I'm as yummy as Royce' na, hehehe.

My latest curated show in the Arts Lounge is Narratives, which features the work of Ben Thynal who's works features fossilized leaves and hair, and Mao Soviet, of the handmade paper, red soil and acryllic magic.

Tees!

Still on my 'feeling so lucky to have generous friends' mode, I got this special 'Paris' tee by Marc by Marc Jacobs from Ace, Mike and Rey as pasalubong. I love the very soft fabric. Yummy sa skin. Labs eeet it mga lolo. Sana marami pang darating, hehehe!

This tee from Playhound has the softest fabric, too. I have a different one that I bought the last I was in Bangkok. Rey was kind enough to get me one in another style. That's why he's my BFF, chos!

And from my spoiler du jour, Eliz, a slouchy Ann Demeulemeester knit tee. Gosh! I died when she gave it to me.

Vogue Hommes Japan no.2

My spoiler Eliz got me this in Tokyo, also. The first issue I'm dying to get which a friend promised to get me. I hope to check it out soon, smell the pages, and not like see it all over the net from all the hundreds of posts from fashion bloggers. Iba talaga yung actual magazine in your hands and you read it while you crap. Opps! Too much info there. hehehe!

The issue is stunning and inspirational. The Hedi Slimane portfolio is so damn good.

I really respect the vision of Hedi.

This fashion ed reminded of Kawadjan. He would totally dig the clothes, I guess. Don't you just love the bright colors? I especially like the fuchsia pink suit, of course.

One of my fave features was this thing: Jun Takahashi of Undercover wrote Marc Jacobs a little note. Hmmmm...Do I smell a collaboration in the near future, for Louis Vuitton, perhaps? OMG! That will be something.

Maison Martin Margiela 20

I swear my friend Liz spoils me. One of her gifts from Tokyo is this Maison Martin Margiela 20 book from the label's retrospective exhibit in the Mode Museum in Antwerp. It celebrates the 20th year of fashion mayhem, blank labels, tabi shoes and other shenanigans the maison pioneered.

I love the book. Can't wait to get the Cream version and the new one to be released in October this year. It will feature contributions from Jean Paul Gaultier, Susannah Frankel, Andree Putman and Vanessa Beecroft. Sounds exciting, no?

The has never left my bedside ever since I got it. I've really felt afinity for the brand because they look at fashion in a different way.

Also, when I started making my own designs I didn't realize that I'm doing, rips, painted stuff, and reusing vintage materials, are already staples of this brand. So discovering the works of Martin Margiela is mind blowing. It validated my own ideas. My obsession was cemented.

The first book I got was a collaboration with Streets magazine. I'm actually looking for another one. When my apartment got burned I salvaged an ashen edged piece. The pages are slowly crumbling and I get darkened fingers when I read it. It's really depressing. It makes me sad, actually. Somebody out there kind enough to part with their MMM x Streets book?

Hi daw kay Gibo sabi nya. Galamay sya ni Robert. Binisitahan ako dito sa SR wala man lang dalang pasalubong! Bitch pagbalik mo dito dapat meron na o ipapakain kita sa mga crocodiles. May pinadala ako para kay Kawadjan pero di dumating. Kinuha raw ng kasama nyang si Cynthia. At sino naman si Cynthia? Pangalan nya ba Kawadjan? Buti na lang andun na yung padala ko kay Robert. Sabi ni Kawadjan pakana talaga ito ni Robert kasi magaling syang magplano. Mastermind ika nga. Galamay nya rin kasi yung Cynthia na yan. Sey mo Gibo?

Camera Necklace

Kawadjan sent me another wacky thing from Bangkok. It's this camera necklace. It has a little flash light in the front. Mainam pag black-out or sa madidilim na lugar.

Not only that, it's also a lighter. Omg! I really didn't know until after several days when I tinkered with it. Buti di ako nasunog. K is so sweet, he remembered I liked it so much. My last visit in Bangkok I begged this lady to sell me her camera neckpiece that she used for styling her merchandise. This is where K got this 'transformer' cardigan. Aba, ayaw! She wouldn't sell it to me. She said it's her goodluck charm. May ganun talaga sa Bangkok.

Neon Fishbone Necklace

My very good friend and Bangcock BFF, Kawadjan, sent me this flouro pink necklace, recently. He told me he's got the neon green one. He picked it up in Chatuchak, the haven for all things bright and wonderful in the heart of gay Bangkok.

I've gotten lots of attention while wearing it. It's really eye catching, I guess, and much to my frustration, is giving me the competition. Nobody notices me anymore!

Giant Puppet Parade auction

There was an auction held here recently at the Arts Lounge to benefit the Giant Puppet Parade project. Every year art students, children from the orphanage and volunteers organize a parade of giant puppets they created. It's one of those unique events here in Siem Reap.

Establishments, generous people and artists gave out artworks, gift certificates, and other stuff for the auction. Up for grabs were hotel stays, dinners, yoga sessions, cooking classes, market tour, paintings, wines, etc and etc.

We installed one of the puppets in the Arts Lounge to give it a chic mood. They raised a sizable amount after the auction and it will benefit greatly the project to continue every year.

Eating at Meric

Pesto pasta. Freshly made pesto everyday. Usually they use almonds as substitute but this one uses pine nuts which is really the original recipe (at least from the ones I read). The nutty taste is slightly more full, and hence, yummier.

Apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Very fattening but oh so yummy! How can I resist?

My Hotel de la Paix Room

At least once a month I get to stay at one of Hotel de la Paix's room. I guess, it's part of familiarizing employees with what the hotel can offer, no? Makes sense. One thing luxurious about the hotel is the softest pillows and comforter they use. It's like sinking in cotton candy or clouds. For a non-hotel lover like myself, I tend to errr...namamahay?, I only get comfortable sleeping in a place after like a day or two, the comfort factor of the bed is important. And it's white because I dread sleeping using printed sheets. So ewwww...

That's my Vivienne Westwood bag there. The room is pretty minimal. An iPod with pre-selected tunes and dock is provided in the room. Many of our guests simply just love the music selection they end up buying the iPods.

It has flat screen tv, too.
