Khmer New Year : Zone One

Apres dinner, we went to Zone One.

Karaoke first, then gift giving. Loven had pabunot for his staff. He gave away a flat screen tv, celphone, dvd player, etc.

Then we danced the remaining night away.

and we really, really danced.

Khmer food

Some of the Khmer food I got to taste for the first time.

Fried beehive. I know! It really looks yucky.

But i tried it and it tasted like crab meat. Milky taste.

Then they set-up a cooking range in front of me with boiling soup. You have to drop chunks of meat, vegetables and this bark looking thing into the soup. They said it's very nice.

We ordered lots of food and ended up having the left ones wrapped up for home.

Jurassic looking fish that they steamed. Despite the looks it was really delicious.

Khmer Spice Girls

Part of our dinner entertainment is listening to what I called 'Khmer Spice Girls'.

This is Mali. Let's just say he's the majordomo of Loven. He was in-charge of this new year bash. They decided to go to this Khmer resto.

with fake zebras

err...Jaws? Orca? Dorrie?

and a kangaroo holding the sign to the loo.

A little camwhoring with the zebras. hehehe

Khmer New Year party for the house staff

Khmer New Year is a big deal here in Cambodia.

So Loven asked his staff to choose a place they like where we could have dinner.

A regular Khmer restaurant. With cows greeting you! Hmmm...

The staff...

and with Loven.

Khmer New Year at Church

To celebrate Khmer New Year, the pips at church had some local talent showcase. We had the Apsara dance. Very interesting. Each hand movement has meaning. The body are articulated in exaggerated movements. Very interesting, indeed.

We had Khmer songs and other dances.

Brice and Cielo

Oh, they prepared Khmer food! Spring rolls, noodles, stew, etc.

Jessie.
