I was at the old market flipping through a local mag when I saw this.

Nobody told me there is something like this there.

Where is this? My Khmer friends, please tell me where is this exactly?

Ukay Hunting

After church I usually go ukay hunting.

That is the only way you can get decent clothes here. Unless you like overpriced Bangkok stuff in polyester cotton or those with glitters or those with chaka prints. Hay, basta depressing and over priced!

So of course in the countryside you can see poor kids.

Their version of those small tiangge. We have these back home especially if you live in a little town like, moi.

We tried exploring this market, around 10 minutes drive from downtown.

Louis Claparols isdatchu? Grabe talaga ang reach at influence ng bruha. Hehehe

80's top

Went ukay hunting with our friend Valerie from Phnom Penh. Brought her particularly to this thrift shop above a bubble tea joint near the central market. The stuff that they sell there came from Japan. I think I blogged about it already. Anyway, this black and gold top came from there.

I'm loving this shirt. So comfy and the print is very me.

Since I only brought 1 pair of jeans here in Siem Reap, I was glad to nab an Evisu

and some True Religion.

I know the distressed detail is so 2005 but this is Cambodia so it's kinda ok. Beggars can't be choosy you know!

And something you wouldn't imagine me wearing - Kenneth Cole stripe shirt with pleated details on the chest. If not for the pleated detail I wouldn't buy it. I've worn it already and it was ok. Good for days when I feel lazy. It's roomy and big e, like a pajama top.

Orussey

Orussey (say oru-sai) is Phnom Penh's biggest ukay secret and I'm telling it to you!

Me?! Yes, moi, the most secretive ukay hunter is sharing it with you! Look at the traffic below.

We parked our car at the rooftop of this massive 5 story building housing a market on the 1st floor, ukay-ukay and office supply on the 2nd floor, accessories and fabrics on the 3rd floor, more stuff on the 4th floor and more cheap, whole sale stuff plus a casino on the 5th floor.

I was there for the ukay so I mostly stayed on the 2nd floor, shoes section. Mind you I haven't even checked the bags and clothes section.

Boots kung boots! There are a lot of new stuff. Lets just say I saw some real Gucci, Zucca, Converse, Sergio Rossi, Balenciaga (BB logo), Kenneth Cole, Anne Klein and other generic but really cute stuff. Like this:

Dior Homme shirt : new from NU store

I thought I'd die here in Cambodia because of the very, very limited clothing choices you can get. Well, in a way it's true. But one learns to survive and adapt. Good thing Fate led me to this store in Phnom Penh which sells some labels that are up my style alley. I got a Dior Homme shirt. Kris Van Assche and Vivienne Westwood you are next.


seven jeans belt : from ukay here in Siem Reap

Well, there is ukay here in Cambodia, too. This seven belt is the 2nd piece I bought from the ukay here. I found a Missoni shirt, a Nina Ricci top and a Balenciaga shirt which I didn't buy. i don't know, I will check it out again. At Salu, their local market, I spotted a Ralph Lauren shirt. I didn't check if it was original though since that time I was not in the mood to ukay and it was raining. Honestly, I miss the ukay in Iloilo. Nobody can beat me when it comes to ukay-ukay in Iloilo.
