Eairth-ling

I got this Eairth top from my friend Gene. It has been very humid these past few days here in Siem Reap and it's the perfect tee to wear with its slashes and holes for ventilation.

Sporty Spice

I would describe my look as something of an exercise with sportswear. The white nylon hoodie with sneakers and gym bag were not technically sports performance grade but it lends that sports effect anyway. It's more fashion, really.

Two Looks

There are days when I get to wear two looks. Most of the time it's just one simply for practical purposes since I hate doing the laundry and it's expensive to always have it done outside. But I wouldn't mind changing outfits all the time if somebody takes care of laundry, hahaha!

I had two outfits today:

Two Black Jackets

I went thrifting recently and got two black jackets. I don't have a count how many black jackets I have already. I can't seem to get enough of it especially if it's designed by my fave designers.

One of the jackets I got is this zipped Y's Yohji Yamamoto. It is collarless and has two interior pockets. The cut is loose and relaxed, fitting perfectly with the aesthetic that Yohji promotes. He once said. "Men’s clothing is about tiny details, and I hate that. I am very small and I look stupid in a perfectly tailored suit. I want to be able to wear things that don’t fit perfectly, with the sleeves far too long. I wish clothing came with no sizes at all. It would be much better that way."

The other piece I got is this coat by Agnes B. made of cotton canvas. I consider Agnes B. in the same category of designers like Margaret Howell and Jean Touitou of A.P.C. who make clothing designs that are functional, timeless, classic and rooted in utility. Her clothes are meant to be used for everyday life and seems distant from frivolous fads and trends. This piece is perfect for casual events and I can't wait to wear it out.

Demeulemeester

Growing up there had been two contemporary designer that influenced my thinking about modern fashion. One, of course, is my ultimate favorite, Helmut Lang. I can go on and on waxing lyrical text of how much his ideas shaped what I perceive as fashion. The other one is Ann Demeulemeester. Before I embraced Margiela, Comme des Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto, Dries Van Noten, and the rest of my designer heroes, there was Helmut and Ann. The 90's experienced the pared down aesthetic of minimalism and I remember seeing Ann's collection for fall/winter 1993 in a magazine at this small boutique in Iloilo. My mind was blown away! I was intrigued and got fascinated with this new vision I'm seeing. I've seen my mom and aunts dressing in prints, shoulder pads and loud colors all my life and here is a new proposition extolling a pared-down aesthetic in muted and dark colors. Dressing in all-black became a new form of rebellion! And nobody knew them or could even pronounce their names. It's so far away from the preppy style my cousins and friends like. I discovered that clothes can express a certain point of view and it has power to make people react. I love the asymmetry and certain slouchiness in Ann's clothes. Like Helmut, Ann's clothes can be deceptively simple and reveals its genius once worn. The printed Ann Demeulemeester tee I'm wearing is cut with the asymmetry in place. Those clever details always get me excited!

Japanese Kimono Vest

Ignore the mess, I'm editing my stuff and storing the ones I don't use anymore. Anyhoot, I went out today to do fabric hunting so I opted for a more sporty look since I went to the local market. There are days when I carefully consider every element of what I put on but there are also days when I let instinct kick in and put anything what I feel like grabbing. Today is 'grab anything' day. I love this vintage kimono vest from Japan that I got from Phnom Penh. It's lightly padded but not hot enough to make me sweat under Cambodian heat. I also like that it's hand sewn so the haute couture element is there. It adds so much value to a particular piece.

Glitter

You can't really see it here in the photo but this particular Maison Martin Margiela AIDS tee lettering has silver glitters, the fall/winter 2009 edition. Each season Maison Margiela comes out with a different version so it's highly collectible.

Louis Vuitton And Christian Dior

I haven't been thrifting lately due to my busy schedule but I manage to sneak a little time yesterday, between appointments, to check. Perfect timing, I guess, because I found a Louis Vuitton Keepall 45 and a cool Christian Dior sling bag in natural leather and Dior gray canvas. I'm very well pleased with my finds!

The Pattern Of Life

I'm not a fan of plaids or stripes although I do have a few stuff with the pattern. It takes a certain colorway for me to wear it because I find the fabric too lumberjack-y. Images of guys in white shirt tucked in denim jeans, with an unbuttoned plaid shirt over it. You know that look, right? But I found this really cool plaid soft cotton in black, white and red, and I thought, it'll be great for a drape-y drop crotch pants, just to shake things up with my designs

My bag is a vintage Helmut Lang from when Helmut was still designing. It's one of my most treasured bags in my collection.

My Trip To Mordor And Beyond

Woke up feeling fresh and motivated since I can feel my diet working. And I love that my skin has been clearing up since I started using Avon's AnewGenics that I got as freebie from Iloilo Designers Week.

Well, today was my second decent to Mordor, aka, trip to the dentist. I had a severe tooth infection last week that nearly drove me crazy! It was so sudden, so painful that I was too exhausted to even cry. I was at my wit's end. Pachem Dental Clinic to the rescue! Took some meds and was knocked out for like 3 days but it was all worth it because any later I would have made the infection worse. The doctor suspects it's from my frequent rhinitis allergy. Had a cocktail of antibiotics and painkillers, which left me lose my appetite. Secretly, deep inside I was celebrating because I'm on a diet. LOL!

Chic plastic lighting fixtures. It seems a girl decorated the clinic.

The walls were pink. A friend commented it looks like a dollhouse! LOL!
I need to go back again on Thursday for another procedure (And no, it's not liposuction, hahaha!). I had some scaling and polishing done. Plus, the infection is cured so there's no more pain or swelling.

Apres, I went to Soup Dragon for breakfast and that's when I saw the shooting for a Korean show. A reader commented that it's for Iris2, an action drama. I actually watched the first Iris and it was good so I'm excited to see this latest installment.

Check my previous post about seeing Du Jun of B2ST. I'm not really like a super fan of the group but I like them. I actually enjoy their song 'Fiction' and how they dress up on stage. I didn't mention Du Jun is actually my favorite in the group. I like his sensibility and he seems to be the mature one, maybe that's why he is the leader (even though he is not the oldest). I watched their Win Win guesting one time and he seems to be a fun guy. I saw them again taping near Poetry this afternoon but I was too busy to take more photos.

Despite my schedule today - stock deliveries, styling and editing, etc., I squeezed a little time to check my favorite thrift store. Got two bags, which I'll be blogging in the next post.

Passed by the grocery on my way home and I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my Filipina model crushes, Lucia Santiago, on the cover of Runner's World magazine. I'm so happy she's still active modelling!

B2ST's Yoon Du Jun In Siem Reap

Earlier I went to pub street to have breakfast at Soup Dragon when I noticed a shooting going on across the restaurant. A lot of production staff milling around and getting on with their business, it's actually quite fun to see the shoot happening. Of course, I got curious who is the lead and I was pleasantly surprised it's Yoon Du Jun of B2ST! At least, he's the only one I recognized. He's the second Korean superstar I saw in Siem Reap after Rain. Too bad I couldn't take a photo of Rain when he stayed at the hotel where I curated their art gallery. The management forbid us to take photo of guests in the hotel especially celebrities.

Yoon Du Jun is the leader of popular Korean K-pop group, B2ST. I learned that it's not his first time to visit Cambodia, his first in 2009 when he shot an episode of a tv program here. Personally, the biggest surprise I learned about him is that we share the same birthday - July 4!

Now I wonder what the shoot is for? Everyone was busy so I didn't bother to ask any of the production staff.

Anyhoot, below are some more photos I took of him.

I Mean Business

Sticking to my minimalist tendencies, I came up with this look for a business meeting I'm going to. I didn't want to lug my usual big 'everything but the kitchen sink' bags so I opted for an envelope clutch. Not really formal but not sloppy casual, too. Just the right amount of look that convey my creative streak but I mean business, as well.
