Dinner at Sokimex

Sokimex. Like a mini grocery store with a mini play area for kids and a Jollibee concept (fastfood) but offers local fares beside the usual burgers, fries and hotdogs. It's a riot! Imagine they have lazy susan tables (the one with the rotating disk in the middle) and wooden high-back chairs.hehehe Had dinner with Fate, Nanny, Freedom and Olive there. It's an experience.

Freedom doing what he does best : being cute. hehehe Only 2 years old and already a talker. He wanted a dolphin balloon but it was not for sale. Nobody told him to do this pose when I took the picture. A weird kid (in a good way),like, he loves gondolas and like he really voice out what he like or don't like.

Shinta Mani

Shinta Mani is the sister hotel of Hotel de la Paix. It's a community run hotel where the staff are graduates of the school run also by Shinta Mani. It is also connected with an orphanage. A benevolent concept that really touches your heart. Quite quirky and charming if you look at the picture. They also have a small pool and spa services.

First day at Hotel dela Paix

I was really so tired from the trip coming from Iloilo. I had to line-up for so long at the check-in going to Bangkok. NAIA 1 is a very strange place. Everything seems to be functioning and working yet it's not efficient. Good thing the plane ride to Bangkok was painless. I even had a special meal because I'm vegetarian. I love Thai Airways! I practically wiped out their supply of apple juice (my new drink obsession). I kept asking for refill.hehehe

The trip going to Seam Reap from Bangkok was also nice. It's the waiting that will get you. I was really stressed for no apparent reason except that I didn't had a wink the night before maybe because I'm excited about the trip. And also I had a hard time packing my clothes. Yes, I had to leave most of my Comme des Garcons, the Y-3's, the Paul Smith's and the rest of my avant-garde choices when it comes to clothing. Sigh...I'm sad I had to leave my babies behind. It can't fit in my luggage. Oh well, I'll just buy new clothes when I go to Bangkok. Their new airport is a shopping haven. I could stay there all day.

So finally I arrive in Seam Reap and Loven fetched me from the airport. We arrived at the hotel and I briefly met my general manager, the charming Nick Downing. They gave us a potent mix drink that really revived my battered senses from fatigue.

Then they brought me to my room and this is what I saw:

Fuchsia has landed!

Dear all,

Greetings from the land of Apsaras, dragon fruit, Angkor Wat and monks.

Yes, dahling. Your humble style breaker and ambassador of all things fuchsia has arrived here at the historic Siem Reap in the Kingdom of Cambodia. It is a whirlwind tripof sorts, uprooting myself from the land of traffic, corruption (as if) and midnight sales, yeah, our one and only Republic of Pinas.

I'll be based here now but i'll be going back home for tsikas and dramas and all. Anyway, I'm staying here at Hotel dela Paix at the moment but I'll be transferring to the posh artist commune of the Maison Ramos next week. The hotel is a 5 star hotel and I'm the new curator for the Art Lounge. Think bar slash art gallery. Currently, the title of the exhibit left by the previous curator is 'lines and lost lines' by 4 artist of different nationalities. Quite interesting because the reaction of the people here to the installation, video art, drawings and sculptures of feather dusters were quite varied from totaly dismissing it as trash to raving about how it's so cool. Very interesting reactions indeed.

I'll be posting some pix of the place soon.
